Weeds of bitterness
wrapped themselves around my soul;
snuffing out all joy.
All of my joy gone –
When a heart is closed
Out of it anger flows
Having nothing to gain
It fills souls with pain
Drowning lives in bitterness.
Walking in the twilight
Listening to the birds
Singing their good night songs
Soaking in the beauty
Of the sun setting behind
The lush green mountains.
It’s good to be home.
Big ugly weeds growing in my soul
Their tentacles wrapping around it
Squeezing hard trying to suffocate Love.
