Is There a Point?

Scraping to get by;
trying hard to make ends meet,
all goes to taxes.

Uncle Sam takes it.
What is the point of trying?
There’s nothing to show.

Wallet is empty –
working hard at the grindstone –
giving up on dreams.

Dreaming seems pointless –
amidst our struggles to save  –
yet, we still have hope.

Hope keeps us going –
looking towards our future dream –
buying our own home.

Haiku Horizons’ prompt, “point.”

    • Thanks so much for your kind words and your comment. You are correct that it is a reality of life. I’m not sure that I would change my journey if I could. I’ve learned so much along the way. It has taught me perseverance, patience, and compassion. 🙂 I’ve learned to be happy with what I have while being hopeful that one day our family’s dream will come to fruition. 🙂

    • So true! 🙂 Thanks for your visit. BTW, I enjoyed reading your haiku. It stuck with me 😉 and has given me lots to ponder on. I love a good poem that gets my mind going and your haiku did just that!
