The Battle

It reaches its tentacles
out of the
deep dark pit
wrapping them
around her
dragging her
down
down
down
into darkness.

Squeezing her tight
choking her
he pierces her
with his
sharp pointed
beak-like mouth
sucking
the
life
out of her.

She writhes in agony
not giving up
trying to escape
his death grip
clawing the walls
of the dungeon
trying
desperately
to
break free.

Writhing back and forth
straining against
the tentacles
clawing at the walls
fighting desperately
she
is
unable
to escape the monster’s grip.

Exhaustion takes over
she is worn out
her muscles ache
from the strain
of battling
against the monster’s grip
she
is
unable
to break loose.

She goes limp
not wanting
to die
yet unable to keep fighting;
the monster
wins the battle
sucking
the
life
out of her.
