I longed to have a sister
to tell my secrets to.
Little did I know,
God had chosen you.
He placed you in Ethiopia,
a land so far away,
where you lived, learned and grew
but there you were not to stay.
Your father brought you to America
to have surgery on your heart.
Next you moved to Harrisonburg;
we were no longer far apart.
We quickly became friends
when we met at school.
We had a lot of fun together.
You were fun and cool!
We didn’t stay just friends
because you chose to be my sister.
You introduced me to my husband,
one year, when the air turned crisper.
You have blessed me so much
as my sister and my friend.
I’m so thankful for you;
our friendship shall never end!
